Chef Jody Casher vs Chef James Thomas

The Arkansas Beef Council Celebrity Chef Cook-off takes off on Sunday at 3pm – It will be a kitchen clash between two great local chefs; Chef James Thomas (JT) of Fianna Hills Country Club will go up against noted Chef Jody Casher of The Movie Lounge.

Tri Tip Steak

The Tri-Tip Steak is a steak built for grilling! It has become increasingly popular because of the superior flavor. The tri-tip is an excellent steak for several reasons. First it is far less expensive than other equally flavorful steaks (i.e. Ribeye). The tri-tip is full of flavor because of excellent marbling and very tender if cooked to a medium temperature (145-150 degrees F).

CHEF JODY CASHER FROM THE MOVIE LOUNGE
Chef Jody Casher is a classically trained chef. He started his career in San Diego and since his arrival in Fort Smith has been the Executive Chef at Old Greenladds, the Rib Eye Steakhouse and UAFS. Jody also worked with Ovations Food Service opening restaurants and handling all facets of casino expansion. He is now using his talents to make the Movie Lounge a top restaurant where you will experience fine dining without the attitude, locally inspired food and classics with a modern twist. Jody has a farm to table philosophy and strong love for the community. He cooks with a passion and emphasis on bold flavors.

CHEF JAMES THOMAS (J.T.) FROM FIANNA HILLS COUNTRY CLUB
J.T’s philosophy is simple, good food ain’t cheap and cheap food ain’t good. J.T grew up in Little Rock where he started cooking at Cajun’s Wharf under Buzz Wyman, a graduate from Hyde Park Institute and then relocated to Dallas where he was executive sous chef at Baby Doe’s Matchless Mine. During his tenure in Dallas he worked for Hackberry Creek Country Club under the notable Dan Drayer. J.T. has been at Fianna Hills Country Club for 10 over years and has been greatly rewarded by watching families grow and at times by feeling part of their family as well. JT’s passion comes from working under great chefs that were creative and considered the staff, customer and product as a whole.

Donette Spann of the Arkansas Beef Council will be busy grilling up some Arkansas Beef to promote and educate consumers regarding the benefits and enjoyment of purchasing, preparing, cooking and eating Beef!
